20 years ago (1989): Bismarck's Lesley Jacobson and Century's Linda Davis were first-team all-state girls basketball selections.
Jacobson, a Miss Basketball finalist, led Bismarck with 12.7 points and 4.8 assists per game, while also contributing 4.2 rebounds and 2.0 steals. She was a 49.4 percent shooter.
"Usually, we went like Lesley went," Demons coach Gary Schauer said.
Davis was known for her versatility. She paced the Patriots with 14.4 points and 5.1 assists per game.
"By far, she's the best all-around player we've had here," Century coach Dennis Jacobs said.
Theresa Berger and Tami Value of St. Mary's were second-team all-state picks.
50 years ago (1959): DICKINSON - The Dickinson State Teachers College will award 30 letters for varsity football and six minor awards.
"We'll need several good men to complete a good squad next year," Dickinson coach Bob Tracy said.
Dickinson loses four to graduation, including co-captain Bob Lasater, co-captain Tom Gunderson from Dickinson, Lincoln Reinhiller from Elgin and Darrel Benz from Beulah, a tackle who did an excellent job after transferring from Bismarck JC.
