10 years ago (1999): The University of Mary wrestling team clearly established itself as the powerhouse in the North Dakota College Athletic Conference with a 31-14 win over Dickinson State.

The Marauders upsed pins by Pat Runez, Brian Biel, Brian Zehren and Justin Currie to roll to the win.

Jeremy Engelhardt had a major decision for U-Mary, while Hatchett also won.

20 years ago (1989): YANKTON - The University of Mary men's basketball team lost to Hastings (Neb.) 88-75 at the Mount Marty (S.D.) tournament.

The Marauders, who dropped their second game in as many nights, had a 10-point lead in the second half, fell victim to a high-pressure defense that forced U-Mary into several bad shots.

Rory Entzi led the Marauders with 20 points, while Tim Verdoorn added 14. Corey Wilhelm contributed 11 points, while Todd Domres chipped in 10.

50 years ago (1959): The Bismarck High Demons, working on one of the greatest basketball traditions in the state, unveil the 1959-60 edition on the road with a pair of games in Montana.

Coach Marshall Murdoch's crew is the state Class A champions for three years running.

This year's team will be featuring new faces, for the most part. Gone form last year's champs are the entire first five of Ron Carlson, Art Winter, Rod Tjaden, Bob Smith and Rich Olthoff, plus able reserves Jerry Brunsoman and Vern Hagen.

Gordon Postovit, Harry Morrison, Ron Anderson, Gary Pederson and Al Lick return.

Also on this year's team are Todd Johnson, Phil Larson, Bruce Evanson, Richard Tudor, Jerry Peterson, Bruce Hedahl, Don Olthoff, Tom Woodmansee and Bruce Wendt.

Johnny Wanzer moves up to assistant coach this season, with William Higgins, Ev Miller and Ray Yeaskey handling the reserves.
