Playoff road: Parshall-WS had a first-round bye, and then defeated Beach 26-6 in the second round, Wells County 14-13 in the quarterfinals, and Towner-Granville-Upham 30-26 in the semifinals. Hankinson defeated New Rockford-Sheyenne 28-26 in the first round, Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter 39-20 in the second round, South Border 55-36 in the quarterfinals, and Hillsboro 29-20 in the semifinals.

One of those victories was a 14-13 decision over Wells County in the state quarterfinals. Wells County defeated the Braves 33-24 in a regular-season game. ... Hankinson is in the state title game for the first time since 1991. The Pirates won the title that year. Hankinson’s first-round win over New Rockford-Sheyenne was its first playoff victory since 1997. ... Hankinson has won its last eight games, including a 29-20 semifinal victory over defending state champion Hillsboro. Hillsboro defeated Hankinson 40-21 in the third game of the season. ...
