Random rants and raves:

This is the last time I will write about Brett Favre. I'm just sick of the guy and the national media devoting all their attention to him.

I will not read another word about Favre, unless it's involves my job.

I don't care if Favre throws 54 touchdown passes and has 2,333 yards in his first game, I refuse to acknowledge him.

My guess is half the locker room wishes he would have stayed in Mississippi.

One of the greatest pleasures in Bismarck is Sertoma Park, where I often take my pooch for a walk.

Thank you to all the bikers and roller bladers who warn me when they are coming up behind me. I can't always hear you approaching, and I appreciate the warning. For those who don't engage in this practice, please do so because somebody could get hurt from a collision.

Thank you to those who pick up their dog waste. Nothing is more disgusting than seeing a small child play next to dog poo.

Congratulations to the Mandan football team in upsetting West Fargo in the season-opener. You humbled a lot of people in the Tribune's Fearless Forecast, including myself.

U-Mary football coach Myron Schulz downplayed reaching his 80th career victory on Saturday in a win against Upper Iowa.

A little bit of humbleness in athletics is always nice to see.

Do you realize that the U-Mary volleyball has already won five matches? That was its win total for all of last season.

Unless something dastardly happens, Eric Snyder can call his first year at the helm a success.
