The University of Mary got equal representation on offense and defense on the Northern Sun first team in football.

Center L.T. Brown and wide receiver Terry Newsome both earned first-team honors for the North Division. Newsome also garnered honorable mention honors as a return specialist.

Nose guard Xavaier Cleveland and defensive back Phil Thomas were named to the North Division first team on defense.

The Marauders closed their season this past weekend with a road loss to Wayne State. U-Mary finished the season at 5-5 in the Northern Sun and 5-6 overall.

Brown is a 6-foot-3, 310-pound senior from Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Newsome, a 5-10, 185-pound junior from San Jose, Calif., caught 48 passes for 693 yards and four touchdowns.

Cleveland, a 6-1, 300-pound junior from Las Vegas, made 59 tackles, including 11½ for a loss. He collected a sack, interception and fumble recovery.

Thomas, a 5-10, 185-pound senior from Fresno, Calif., made 57 tackles and collected three interceptions. Thomas registered a half-sack.

Running back Jamal Lomax was named to the North Division second team on offense.

E.J. Reid and Caleb Thompson earned honors on the North Division defensive second team.

Lomax, a 5-8, 190-pound junior from Las Vegas, rushed for 1,142 yards on 215 carries and scored six times. He caught 19 passes for 156 yards with four receiving touchdowns.

Reid, a 6-2, 320-pound senior who transferred from Utah State, collected 31 tackles, including 8½ for a loss. Reid, who is from Laie, Hawaii, had two sacks and an interception.

Thompson, a 6-2, 240-pound junior from Miles City, Mont., led the team with 66 tackles, including 8½ for a loss. Thompson also collected three sacks.

Joining Newsome on the honorable mention team are cornerback Tim Brown and offensive lineman Nick Thornton-Jack.
