Trivia answer
From 1D: Gaylord Perry played for eight different teams, but retired with the Kansas City Royals. From 1962-1971, Perry was a San Francisco Giant. From there it was Cleveland, then Texas, San Diego, Texas again, then the Yankees, Braves, Mariners, and he finally retired with the Royals in 1983. Perry's Cy Young awards came in 1972 with the Indians, then in 1978 as a Padre. He was the first pitcher in history to win a Cy Young in both leagues. When he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1991, Perry wore a custom made jersey that had every one of his former team's logo on it.

10 years ago (1998):Consider it an anniversary present.
For the first time in its 25-year history, the Shrine Bowl will treat North Dakota football fans to a natural rivalry: East vs. West.
According to Dickinson High coach Dean Goodall, the players are excited about the switch.
"A lot of the Western-edge kids feel like second-class citizens," he said.
The West will be loaded with players from Goodall's Class AAA champion Midgets, including four offensive starters - quarterback Jason Dinius, running back Jason Moore, wide receiver Kurtis Kahn and center Justin Behm.
The runner-up Bismarck Demons are heavily represented as well, with the likes of all-state running back Mike Brunner, Corey Neff, Christ Gietzen and Matt Dietrich. Other locals named to the squad include Cary Effertz and Brad Schmitz of Century, and Jason Ernhardt, Josh Quivey and Derrick Eichele of St. Mary's.
New England-Regent coach Mike Schatz, who guided the Tigers to their third straight state title in November, will have the honor of coaching the West's first 9-man squad.
20 years ago (1988): Tim Feland of Bismarck and Phil Haugen of Williston are friends, so there isn't any mistrust between them. Still, they may be keeping wary eyes on each other.
The two will be battling it out for the calf roping championship at the North Dakota Rodeo Association Finals.
Feland is leading in the season standings with $1,751.39 while Haugen is right behind at $1,568.51.
"We're going to play that up as much as we can," said a laughing Tim Oswald, NDRApresident.
John Richter of Hazen is sitting in a close third-place spot, having won $1,405.03.
Haugen doesn't even need to show up at the State Finals to win the all-around award. He has already won $3,804.64, while Dean Voigt of Zap is a distant second at $2,205.30.
50 years ago (1958): The Bismarck American Legion Juniors moved over the .500 mark by halting the Dickinson Juniors 9-5 behind the nine-hit pitching of Rod Tjaden.
He went all the way for Bismarck, striking out six and walking two. Pat Keller started for Dickinson and was charged with the loss. He worked four innings, wiffed three and walked four. Dennis Hawn finished.
Gordon Postovit had three hits and scored twice for Bismarck, while Gene Werre had two hits and scored two runs. Rich Olthoff added two hits. Ron Carlson, Bruce Howie, Dick Geiger and Tjaden added singles, while Art Winter scored a run.
Keller collected three hits for Dickinson, while Roger Haug had two hits and two runs. Dick Bailey hit safely twice, one being a double, while John Dinsdale added a hit and a run scored. Maynard Keller scored once.
