Sykeston native Hafner off to good start for Cleveland
FARGO (AP) - Cleveland Indians designated hitter Travis Hafner says his shoulder that was surgically repaired in the offseason "feels good."
In his first 25 at-bats of the season the Sykeston native had three home runs and six RBIs.
The 31-year-old designated hitter had 127 homers and 424 RBIs from 2004 through 2007, but he broke down last season.
Hafner had his shoulder cleaned out last October, and he rehabbed all winter. He said if you work hard good things will happen, and that it feels good to be productive at the plate again.
Hafner said he plans to take some days off early in the season so he's not putting too much of a strain on his shoulder, but expects to soon be an everyday player again.
