LARAMIE, Wyo. - Having not scored a touchdown in six quarters and down 10-0 to a lower division team, the Wyoming offense went back to the basic power running game.

Keyed by Devon Moore's 145 yards rushing, including 122 in the second half, and his 2-yard touchdown run, the Cowboys came from behind to beat North Dakota State 16-13 Saturday. Jake Scott's 29-yard field goal, his third of the day, with 4 seconds left capped the comeback after the Cowboys fell behind 13-0 early in the third quarter.

"This is the first time maybe since 2008 years ago that somebody else rose from the dead," Cowboys coach Joe Glenn said.

Scott's field goal was set up by Derrick McMahen's interception of a pass by NDSU quarterback Nick Mertens. That gave Wyoming the ball on the Bison 28-yard line with 1:28 left.

"He was in the right place at the right time," Wyoming free safety Chris Prosinski, who picked off two passes, said of McMahen.

Wyoming entered the game struggling on offense. The week before, in a loss to Air Force, the Cowboys gained just 216 total yards and scored no touchdowns.

In the first half against the Bison, the Cowboys' offensive struggles continued. They were plagued by penalties, sacks, dropped passes and a fumble. They gained just three first downs and 78 total yards.

Meanwhile, NDSU built a 10-0 halftime lead on a 3-yard touchdown pass from Mertens to Tyler Jangula and a 34-yard field goal by Shawn Bibeau.

"We were out," Glenn said. "Man there was hardly anything left in our locker room."

But after the Bison ended their first possession in the second half with a 32-yard field goal by Bibeau, Moore broke off a 41-yard run and then scored from 2 yards out for Wyoming's first offensive touchdown in six quarters.

"We had it in our minds to run the ball, and the offensive line really opened some holes," Moore said.

Wynel Seldon, who rushed for 56 yards, also contributed with some hard running.

The Cowboys finished with 266 offensive yards, 176 of which were on running plays.

"They just changed what was going on in the game and we were able to steal the momentum away from them," Glenn said.

Scott finished off two other Wyoming drives with a pair of 28-yard field goals to tie the game.

Mertens led the Bison with 215 yards passing and one TD.

Wyoming was the fifth team in the Football Bowl Subdivision, formerly Division I-A, that the Bison have played since NDSU moved up from Division II to the Football Championship Subdivision, formerly I-AA. NDSU is now 3-2 against FBS schools.
