Six members of NDSU's Great West championship team were recognized.

Offensive guard Jake Erickson earned first team honors. Offensive tackle Nate Safe, defensive tackle Justin Frick and punter Mike Dragosavich were named to the second team. Strong Safety Craig Dahl and halfback Kyle Steffes were honorable mention.

SDSU's Vogel drafted in WNBA

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - South Dakota State University women's basketball standout Megan Vogel was drafted Wednesday by the Washington Mystics of the WNBA.

Vogel was drafted in the second round and was the 19th player picked overall, according to the WNBA Web site.

Vogel led SDSU to a 25-6 record this season and two wins in the Women's National Invitation Tourney - the first post-season tournament appearance by a South Dakota collegiate team since SDSU entered Division I athletics. The Jacks, a transition team, were ineligible for the women's NCAA tourney.

Vogel is a 5-foot-11 forward from St. Peter, Minn.

The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women's softball crossover, scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Concordia-St. Paul, has been postponed due to cold weather.

The games have been moved to Monday and Tuesday.

Changes in the crossover are causing the Marauders to make additional adjustments to their schedule. U-Mary has canceled its home game against Montana State University-Billings on Tuesday.

The Marauders' home contest against Bemidji (Minn.) State on Wednesday, is rescheduled for April 15. The doubleheader will begin at noon.

HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS

WEATHER CAUSES MORE POSTPONEMENTS

The weather continues to wreak havoc on the spring sports schedule, as the local high school baseball and track slates for the rest of the week have been wiped out.

The Mandan-Century baseball game scheduled for today was postponed with no makeup date set yet.

Turtle Mountain's baseball games against Bismarck and Century Friday and Saturday have also been postponed indefinitely.

Williston will play Bismarck Monday at 1 p.m. and Mandan at 3 p.m. with both games scheduled to take place at Mandan Memorial Ballpark.

Bismarck's game at Mandan, originally scheduled for Tuesday, will be played at Mandan on April 13.

Also today's track meets at Dickinson and Jamestown have been postponed.

High school basketball

Gatorade Cites Kick

Dickinson High School standout Tate Kick has been named Gatorade's North Dakota boys basketball player of the year.

The 6-foot-5 forward averaged 22.5 points and 10 rebounds per game for a Dickinson team that went 21-4 and won the 2007 Class A state championship. Kick, who scored 20 points in the title game, was a first-team all-state selection and a Mr. Basketball finalist.

"Every night, he's so consistent," DHS athletic director Calvin Dean said. "Night in and night out, you know what you're going to get from him."

Gatorade honorees are selected not only for their outstanding athletic performance, but also for meeting high academic standards while demonstrating exemplary personal character on and off the court.

Kick, who has made a verbal commitment to attend the University of Mary and play basketball, has maintained a B average, and has served as a volunteer youth coach at area basketball camps and clinics.
