10 years ago (1998):BEULAH - Neither Jayden Olson nor Matt Voegele will get to play St. Mary's next season when the Beulah Miners make the jump to Class A.

So the two Beulah seniors had to make the most of the game against the Saints.

Olson was 10-for-10 from the field en route to 27 points, including the game-winning free throws with 0.7 seconds left, and Voegele added 21 points to lead the Miners to a 76-75 overtime victory.

Tom Volesky added 16 points and seven rebounds for Beulah, while Adam Spahier chipped in eight points.

Jason Duppong led the Saints with 19 points, while Brian VerDouw and Travis Riedinger scored 15 points apiece. Dan Barth added 11 points and VerDouw pulled down 10 rebounds.

20 years ago (1988): Money in the bank? Maybe not.

Mandan basketball coach Darryl Anderson would probably tell you that if Troy Hartmann, Bismarck's 6-foot-7 post, isn't money in the bank, he's at least as good as a cashier's check.

Hartmann zinged Mandan with 19 first-half points and finished with 27 points and 14 rebounds as the Demons thumped Mandan 52-45 in Western Dakota Association action.

Tracy Hinsz added 11 points and six rebounds for Bismarck, while Jeff Peterson chipped in nine points.

Dan Leingang led the Braves with 17 points and pulled down six rebounds, while Dean Johnson scored nine points. Todd Feland collected four points and seven rebounds, while Mike Ressler collected seven points and five rebounds.

50 years ago (1958): TUTTLE - The Tuttle Trojans made it victory number 19, turning back Robinson 61-57.

It was the third time this year the Trojans have stopped Robinson.

Tuttle has only two defeats this year, both to Class B school.

Burt Riskedahl paced the winners with 16 points. L. Schwindt scored 15 points and Wahl added 14, while Rath chipped in 12 points for the Trojans.

John Brown had 16, Bill Hanson 15 and Gene Baker 14 for Robinson.
