10 years ago (1999): Bismarck's Chuck Archambault was a unanimous selection to the Class A all-state boys basketball team.

The 6-foot-1 senior guard averaged 21 points, four rebounds and three assists per game. He shot 50 percent from the field and a sparkling 94-for-100 from the free-throw line. Archambault collected 66 3-pointers and shot 31 percent from behind the arc.

"Chuck has the ability to take the shot off the dribble or take it off the pass," Demons coach Steve Miller said.

Minot's Jeff Brandt and Mark Olson made the first team, while the Magicians' Kent Bloms was put on the second team.

Beulah's Tom Volesky was named to the second team.

20 years ago (1989): Scott Knowlen is finding it costs less these days to be a good host.

Knowlen, the coach of the Dakota Wrestling Club, has been a participant in cultural exchange wrestling tours for many years, both as a wrestler and coach, in the U.S. and overseas.

He re-enters the international wrestling scene as he sends a Bismarck-Mandan team against a New Zealand cultural exchange team that is visiting North Dakota for three weeks.

The area wrestlers are Troy Sabot (75 pounds), Darin Giese (108), Robert Barchenger (115), Mitch Miller and Craig Zachmeier (128), Troy Fleck, Ben Berogan and Monte Trusty (135), Kyle Flech and Chad Renner (149), Monte Weiand (154), Mike McCormick (156) and Rick Block (165).

50 years ago (1959): St. Alexius Hospital and Capital Commercial College took decisive wins in the latest Women's Basketball League action.

The Hospital stopped Bismarck Junior College 60-24 as Marilyn Fisher netted 22 points and Sally Baumgartner 17. Winona LaDuke had 15 and Agnes Bendish nine for BJC.

The College turned back Shamrocks 68-34. Sandy Spitzer netted 35 points for the winners and Ethel Uttke had 18 for the losers.
