MAYVILLE (AP) - Ron Howard scored 21 points to lead Mayville State over South Dakota Tech 85-74 Tuesday night for the Dakota Athletic Conference men's basketball championship.
The Comets (23-8) advance to the NAIA Division II men's tournament starting March 7 in Point Lookout, Mo. They have won back-to-back DAC titles.
Mayville State led 46-30 at halftime Tuesday night. South Dakota Tech was led by Matt Lyndoe and Casey Schmitz with 16 points each.

Hawley, Chase cited by Mon-Dak
Colette Hawley of United Tribes was named the Mon-Dak women's basketball player of the week. The 6-foot-3 freshman scored 15 points and snagged 14 rebounds in a game last week. She is averaging a double-double for the season.
Derrick Chase of Minot State-Bottineau was named the men's player of the week. The 6-4 sophomore scored 52 points, making 14 3-point shots, and grabbed 20 rebounds in three games. Chase is shooting 44 percent from beyond the arc this season.

The University of Mary softball team dropped a doubleheader to 16th ranked Gannon University Tuesday. The Marauders lost to the Lady Knights 8-7 in the first game and 4-3 in eight innings in the nightcap.
The Marauders are 5-4 overall and 1-3 on their spring trip. U-Mary is off today before playing another eight games, including a rematch with Gannon.
