10 years ago (1998):Bismarck boys soccer coach Lou Ogaard had a lot to smile about despite being shut out in the first game of the season 3-0 by Fargo South at the East-West Classic.

That's because the Demons washed away the taste of that loss by trouncing Grand Forks Central 13-0 in the second game at the Bismarck Community Bowl.

Todd Huber and Joel Jahnke scored three goals each for the Demons. Garret Ludwig and Keith Wolter added two apiece.

20 years ago (1988): Bismarck's Todd Morken was a hot shooter at the 89th Grand American Trapshooting Tournament at Vandalia, Ohio.

The 14-year-old Morken won six titles, including the singles class sub-junior championship with a score of 198x200. That event had 2,063 competitors.

50 years ago (1958): Four Slope Area boys all members of Junior Legion teams have been invited to work out for Major League scouts at the Municipal Ballpark.
