Bismarck Blizzard

Notes: Maddy Gendreau was a first-team all-stater at forward. She finished second in the state in scoring. ¦ She will play on the first line along with Laura Maddock, who was a second-team all-stater on defense, and Sarah Hoffer. ¦ Caitlin White, Samantha Harris and Kristen Goulet will be on the second line. … Lauren Kringstad, who repeated as a first-team all-stater, heads up the defense. She will be paired with Taylor Erhardt, with Megan Wald and Trisha Evenson as the second unit. … Morgan Williams and Kasandra Cariveau may both see time in goal. ¦ The Blizzard lost Miss Hockey winner Miranda Glatt to graduation.

Dickinson Midgets

2007-08: 6-13-2, ninth in regular season; did not qualify for state.

Coach: Chris Coates, first year.

Top returnees: Christina Lantz, sr., F (18-8-26). Brittney Meyer, sr., F (9-10-19). Amity Lantz, so., F (6-11-17). Haley Anderson, so., F (9-5-14). Kira Kuntz, fr., F (7-4-11). Aunika Swenson, so., D (2-3-5). Ashley Ludwig, sr., G (5-13-2, 5.00 GAA, .868 save pct).

Notes: Aunika Swenson was an all-region pick last season. ¦ Dickinson didn't lose any players to graduation. ¦ The Midgets last qualified for state in 2003-04.

Hazen-Beulah Novas

2007-08: 10-12-1, seventh in regular season; 0-2 at state.

Coach: Jeff Dietz, fifth year, 36-54-2.

Top returnees: Paige Bruce, sr., G (10-12-1, 3.30 GAA, .902 save pct). Kara Dietz, sr., F-D (25-16-41). Payton Borud, so., F-D (7-8-15). Sara Silverthorn, sr., F (4-6-10).

Notes: The Novas have very low numbers, with just 11 players on their roster, but have managed to stay competitive anyway. ¦ Hazen-Beulah is very strong in net, with first-team all-stater Paige Bruce, who is in her sixth season as starter. ¦ Kara Dietz is a second-team all-stater and Payton Borud was an all-region pick.

Jamestown Blue Jays

2007-08: 4-17-0, 10th in regular season; did not qualify for state.

Coach: Kellen Bjone, third year, 12-30-1.

Top returnees: Megan Stark, sr., F (6-10-16). Katrina Wiest, jr., F-D (9-6-15). Alicia Anderson, sr., F (6-6-12). Erin Sand, sr., D (3-3-6). Melissa Williams, jr., G, (4-16-0, 6.39 GAA, .785 save pct).

Notes: Erin Sand was an all-region pick last season.

Mandan Braves

2007-08: 3-17-1, 11th in regular season; did not qualify for state.

Coach: Mike Jones, fifth year, 10-67-4.

Top returnees: Taylor Fischer, jr., F (4-5-9). Madison Huber, 8th, F, (2-4-6). Krista MacKinnon, so., D (2-3-5). Katherine Berger, sr., D (1-3-4). Ree Metz, sr., G (3-17-1, 5.21 GAA, .874 save pct).

Notes: Katherine Berger was a bright spot for the Braves last year, earning second-team all-state honors. … Veteran goalie Ree Metz was an all-region pick. … Leading scorer Sarah Weber, an all-region selection, was lost to graduation.

Minot Majettes

2007-08: 11-11-2, sixth in regular season; sixth at state.

Coach: Pat Morelli, seventh year.

Top returnees: Harley Damron, so., F (16-17-33). Samantha Herslip, jr., F (10-13-23). Kaari Burbach, so., F (4-9-13). MaKayla Sandvold, fr., F (4-5-9).

Notes: First-team all-stater Ali Parizek, long the key to Minot's offense, was lost to graduation. So was Lauren Butler, an all-region pick. Between them they had 66 goals, 53 by Parizek, and 113 points. ¦ The new focal points of the offense will be Harley Damron and Samantha Herslip, though Morelli said finding balanced scoring will be the key. ¦ Minot will also be looking for new answers on defense and in goal, where three players are vying for the spot.

Williston Coyotes

2007-08: 9-14-0, eighth in regular season; 0-2 at state.

Coach: Mikaela Rehak, sixth year, 69-42-2.

Top returnees: Rachel Hennessy, sr., F (59-19-78). Randi Gustafson, jr., D (0-9-9). Jocci Walz, fr., F (3-5-8). Kinsey McCaughtry, 8th , G (6-9-0, 6.00 GAA, .808 save pct).

Notes: Rachel Hennessy was the state leader in goals and points and was again named a first-team all-stater.
