10 years ago (1999): MAYVILLE - Mayville State took down both the University of Mary men and Marauders women's basketball team in the North Dakota Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
The U-Mary men fell 87-84. Kurt Schwamp and Wes Kellogg scored 25 and 24 points, respectively, for the Marauders. Nathan Goracke chipped in 11.
The U-Mary women fell 72-55 after shooting just 33 percent from the field.
"We haven't played well here in the past and tonight was no exception," Marauders coach Roger Haug said.
Guard Stacy Hintz led U-Mary with 12 points. Guard Thai Goecke with 10 was the only other Marauder in double figures. Jen Lunde added seven points and seven rebounds, while Lisa Maus contributed seven points and four assists.
20 years ago (1989): DICKINSON - Regent beat previously unbeaten Killdeer 66-54 and Bowman upended New England 66-41 in the first round of the Roughrider boys basketball tournament.
Todd Sheldon scored 20 points, Shorty Klein 19 and Scott Monke 10 for Regent.
Dale Kukla paced the Cowboys with 15 points, while Mike Lynch added 14 and Cory Berg chipped in 12 points.
Judd Nielsen netted 18 for Bowman, while Bob Walter came through with 13 points and Brian Sominson contributed 11.
Brent Bautz scored a game-high 18 points for New England, while Troy Wolfe scored nine.
50 years ago (1959): WATFORDCITY- The Watford City Wolves clipped Assumption Abbey 37-35 to win the Watford City Invitational.
Crosby dropped Alexander 54-32 in the consolation game.
Warren Winsness had 12 points and Wayne Sanford 11 for Watford City.
Ed Diem paced the Cubs with 17.
Mitchell scored 21 points for Crosby, while Hagen added 12.
