DECATUR, Ala. The Dickinson State softball team stayed alive in the NAIA national tournament on Monday in its third game of the day with a 9-6 victory over Notre Dame College in the losers' bracket.
The Blue Hawks -who finished pool play unbeaten - won their first game on Monday in the championship bracket with a 6-3 victory over Oklahoma City.
DSU was clipped by St. Gregory's 7-5 in its second game of the day, snapping a 28-game winning streak.
It was pitcher Sara Jane Webster's first loss since March 20.
The right-hander from Los Angeles picked up both wins on Monday to improve to 27-3.
Dickinson State continues the double-elimination tournament today with another matchup against Oklahoma City.
Jody Lantz and Kyrstin Gemar both homered twice on Monday. Lantz finished the day with five runs batted in, and Gemar had four.
The Blue Hawks (41-4) plated three runs in the top of the seventh inning against Notre Dame to stay alive in the tournament.
