10 years ago (1998):When the University of Mary football team won the coin flip before a game with Minot State, the Marauders chose the wind: Then they blew away the Beavers.
Using the elements to their advantage, the Marauders were up 21-0 by the opening play of the second quarter, and coasted to a 36-12 victory.
Chris Schwab threw two touchdown passes, a 3-yarder to Brent Walker and a 39-yarder to Greg Paramore.
Paramore ran for two scores, from 2 and 4 yards out, while Brian Price returned an interception 29 yards for a touchdown. Jason Buono kicked four extra points, while Schwab hit Jason Collopy for a two-point conversion.
For Minot State, Andy Davis scored from a yard out and Ben Slind scored on a 2-yard touchdown run.
20 years ago (1988): Bismarck High took a 2-1 halftime lead and played Mandan even the second half to win 3-2 in a Western Conference boys soccer game.

50 years ago (1958): LINTON - Two breaks gave Linton two quick touchdowns and an eventual 21-6 victory over Napoleon in a hard fought South Central Conference tussle.
Tom Kramer tried to punt the Imperials out of danger. But big Jim Ramey, Lion lineman, bowled his way through the line, blocked the punt into the end zone and fell on it for the six points.
Mike Spaeth, Linton quarterback, ran for the extra point.
Bill Becker climaxed a later drive by sweeping his right end and galloping 45 yards for the score.
Later in the game, Napoleon's Tom Weigel attempted to sweep his end but was stopped in his tracks on a bone-crushing tackle by Anton Vetter. The ball squirted into the air and Spaeth grabbed it and scampered 50 yards down the sideline for the score.
The Imperials' Tony Brown blocked a punt setting up Kramer's touchdown run.
