Trivia answer
From 1D: Justine Henin was the first woman to beat the Williams sisters back to back in the same Grand Slam, and went on to win the championship. She did it in last year's U.S. Open. Henin beat Serena Williams in the quarterfinals and Venus Williams in the semifinals.

10 years ago (1998):Waiting for Century senior Travis Houn to score - be it by touchdown or kick - this fall would be akin to awaiting the next glacial advance.
As an inside linebacker and reserve offensive guard, Houn seldom comes into contact with a football.
That in no way suggests Houn doesn't get his kicks between the sidelines.
"The fun comes when you come off a tackle and you're dizzy, because I know when I get my bell rung the guy I tackled got his rung worse," Houn said.
At one point, it was doubtful the 5-foot-9, 180-pounder would even start against Grand Forks Red River.
"He had a good game, and it was kind of unexpected," Century coach Ron Wingenbach said. "He was injured in the preseason. He had a slight bicep tear. But when he came back to practice, he made good progress."
20 years ago (1988): Bismarck High's methodical disposal of West Fargo was hardly enough to get the blood pumping. There were moments, however, when a few hearts skipped a beat or two.
Shortly before halftime in Bismarck's 45-0 football win, a transformer blew up near the 40-yard line on the pressbox side of Hughes Field. Sparks flew. Cheerleaders screamed. The lights went out.
"I thought it was the Fourth of July," said public address announcer Red Jackson.
John Frey scored three times for the Demons, on runs of 3 and 59 yards and a 79-yard punt return.
Jeff Holly scored on a 5-yard touchdown run and added five extra points.
Shawn Perius threw two touchdowns, a 14-yard to Corey Christmann and a 36-yard connection with Hans Kaldahl.
50 years ago (1958): St. Mary's football Saints go marching in against Minot's Ryan High School, planning to pick up some practical experience for the rugged Western Division schedule that lies ahead.
"We have the finest sophomore class in our history," coach Dave O'Brien said.
Gone from last year's fine squad are Dave Hummel, Sheldon Cieslak, Joe Bachmeier, Bob Fisher, Pat Kavaney, John Huelskamp, John Kraft, Jim Webb, Perry Schumacher, John Tschider and Bruce Belk.
Dick Geiger is back and will work with sophomore Jim DeForest.
Sophomore fullback George Welder shows promise.
Only three lettermen are returning: end Tom Hall, tackle Rod Fischer and backfield man Dick Schaefer.
