SIOUX CITY, Iowa Three Jamestown pitchers worked to post a 3-2 victory over Dakota State at the NAIA Region III tournament on Thursday.

Derek Schlapbach was relieved in the eighth inning and was credited with the win. Nate Neumiller and Steve Hirchert also pitched for Jamestown. Hirchert picked up his sixth save of the season.

Jamestown (30-14) matches up with Briar Cliff (Iowa) today at 1 p.m.

DICKINSON Leah Glasgow drove in three runs to lead Dickinson State into the championship game of the NAIA Region III tournament.

Glasgow helped DSU top Morningside 8-5 on Thursday. The Blue Hawks match up with Morningside today at noon in the championship. Morningside advanced through the losers' bracket of the double-elimination tournament.

DSU (28-5) collected nine hits on Thursday. Glasgow, Ashley Neufeld and Tiffany Saatzer all collected two hits apiece.

Pitcher Mehgan Shaw earned the win for DSU, improving her season record to 17-1.

WILLISTON - Jon Hausauer threw a three-hitter in the first game for the Demons, but then the Coyotes came back to earn a split in two West Region games Thursday.

In the first game, Hausauer struck out three in his shutout as Bismarck scored all seven runs in the last three innings.

In the second game, Shawn Egge was 4-for-4 and Brian Qvale added two doubles as Williston built a 4-1 lead and then held on.

The Coyotes fell 1/2-game behind idle Dickinson in the West Region standings, while the Demons stayed in fourth place behind Minot.

Matt Loomis threw a no-hitter in the first game for the Saints, but then the Miners picked up their first win of the season as the two teams split a pair of West Region games Thursday at Municipal Ballpark.

Loomis struck out seven and walked five, while St. Mary's scored in the first and sixth innings. Tom Seifert went 2-for-3 at the plate.

In the second game, Beulah-Hazen scored in the bottom of the 10th after St. Mary's came back to tie it at 2.

Jon Herold allowed no earned runs in six innings of relief for the Saints, allowing three hits and striking out five.

The game-winning run scored on a passed ball in the 10th after the Miners scored a single run in each the first and second innings.

CLASSBBOYS GOLF

REGION5 INDIVIDUALTOURNAMENT

DICKINSON-Jacob Wheeling of Killdeer shot a two-under-par 70 to win the Region 5 golf tournament Thursday at Heart River Golf Course.

Wheeling was one of 11 players to qualify for the state tournament in individual competition. All players who scored within seven strokes of par earned state berths.

The Region 5 team tournament will be played at the same site on May 17 with a minimum of three teams earning state berths.

Thursday's competition drew 83 golfers from 15 schools.
