10 years ago (1998):Focus was a problem for St. Mary's - except when the Saints stepped to the 3-point line. They had great perimeter vision.

St. Mary's concentration came and went in its 56-50 victory over Minot, but the Saints made up for those lapses by hitting five shots from beyond the arc and a handful more from just inside the stripe.

Amber McLeod scored a game-high 19 points for St, Mary's, while Heather Stuberg added 17. Kristi Vetter chipped in seven points.

50 years ago (1958): WASHBURN - Coach Larry Woznick's Cardinals have 18 lettermen returning and a team that will average about 160 pounds overall.

"We should have a fair team this year with that many letterman," Woznick says. "It looks like a fairly well-balanced conference."
