n Was named the sixth full-time commissioner of the North Central Conference on Jan. 17, 2005. Will receive the Legacy Award, an honor given to individuals who have provided long-term and successful service to the NCC.
n Serves on the NCAA Division II Management Council.
n Was UND athletic director from 1999-2005. During his tenure, UND won NCAA Division II titles in football (2001) and men's hockey (2000). Was instrumental in the opening of three new athletic facilities.
n Coached University of North Dakota football team from 1986-98. Guided Sioux to three consecutive NCC championships from 1993-95 and nine consecutive winning seasons. Left program with more wins than any other UND football coach with a record of 90-49-2. Coached UND to five NCAA postseason appearances. Named NCC coach of the year three times.
n Began coaching career at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D.
n Held assistant coaching positions at California State-Fullerton, University of Minnesota and with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League.
n Earned a master's degree from University of South Dakota in 1972
n Earned an undergraduate degree in physical education and history from Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill., in 1969
n Played running back and quarterback at Augustana in Rock Island,Ill.
n Born Aug. 19, 1947 in Chicago.
