20 years ago (1989): Troy Butz of Bismarck captured the feature victory in the Bomber CLass during the Independence Day racing event at Bismarck Speedway.
Bismarck's Carrie Mundahl finished second, while Loren Geisler and Robert Dolan, both of Bismarck, won heats in the Bomber Class.
Bismarck's Barry Vietz of Bismarck won the Street CLass feature, finishing ahead of Blaine Doppler, also of Bismarck. Steve Dorgan of Bismarck won a heat, while Doug Anderson of Bismarck won the trophy dash.
50 years ago (1959): Bismarck's amatuer baseball team jumped on Satchel Paige and the Cubal Stars to take a 5-2 victory before 402 loyal fans.
Bill Hockenbury had two hits and a run batted in for Bismarck, while Jim Simle had a hit and scored a run.
Jim Larson had a hit and scored twice, while Jerry Harter had a hit, scored a run and knocked one in.
Ken Hilligoss collected a hit and an RBI, while Ron Volk and Dave Hummel had hits. Tom Kleppe scored a run for Bismarck.
Roger Higgins started for Bismarck, was relieved by winner Harter before Ed Shimmin finished things off.
