50 years ago (1959): Bismarck's battling basketball Demons rule as champions of the Western Division Class A ranks for the third year in a row.

Coach Marshall Murdoch's speedsters broke away from the Jamestown Blue Jays in the second half for a 65-41 victory which assured them for the crown.

Rich Oltholff led Bismarck with 17 points and Art Winter netted 15. Rod Tjaden chipped in 11 points, while Ron Carlson came through with nine.

Kent Johnson led Jamestown 14 points and Rod Zimmerman had 11.
