GRAND FORKS (AP) - A regional dollar store chain is going out of business next month, putting about 90 people out of work.
Fridley, Minnesota-based Big Values Incorporated is closing all 10 Big Dollar Stores and also a Big Values store.
Company owner Mike Vandal cites the rising cost of goods and services and the shrinking buying power of the dollar.
Tim Vodden manages the Big Dollar Store in Grand Forks. He says a slumping economy should result in more people shopping at dollar stores. But he says people are just being more careful with their money.
The Big Dollar Store brand has been in existence for 21 years.
