A Bottineau County bank teller who claimed she was knocked unconscious in a robbery has been charged with theft.
Tamara Lynn McDonald, 45, was arrested Friday, and later released on a personal recognizance bond, authorities said.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Dave Hagler said McDonald did not enter a plea on Friday.
FBI Special Agent Paul McCabe said McDonald claimed she was struck from behind and knocked unconscious after she went into the vault at the State Bank of Bottineau branch in Souris on March 25.
The FBI said at the time that McDonald was found by customers and her husband. More than $18,000 was taken from the bank, authorities said.
"I don't anticipate charges being filed against anyone else," Hagler said Friday.
Fewer than 100 people live in Souris, in north central North Dakota.
