CASSELTON (AP) - A Sunday night fire that gutted a home in Casselton has been traced to a pan of cooking oil. No one was hurt.
Officials say Pam Offerdahl was making french fries when the cooking oil in her frying pan caught fire shortly before 7:30 p.m. Flames ignited the wallpaper in her home.
Casselton Assistant Fire Chief Ryan Radermacher says the home appears to be a total loss.
Officials say Offerdahl was shaken by the loss of her home and one of her two cats. But her pastor, the Rev. Paula Mehmel, says she's grateful for the help of rescue workers and neighbors.
