WEST FARGO (AP) - A 15-year-old girl and her 20-month-old niece have been found safe, police say.

Amy Doll and her niece, Shara Doll, were reported missing at about 10:30 p.m. Monday, when Amy was babysitting the younger girl, authorities said.

The girls showed up at the home of Amy's parents late Tuesday morning. Police Sgt. Terry Styf said both appeared in good health.

Styf said Amy Doll told investigators she and her niece had been with friends.

The older girl had last been seen carrying the toddler at about 4:30 p.m. Monday.

"She just said she was going to take Shara for a walk and never returned," West Fargo Police Detective Greg Warren said.

Police met Tuesday morning to discuss whether they should issue an Amber Alert.

"We were within minutes of doing this when we learned they had returned home," West Fargo Police Chief Arland Rasmussen said.
