LARIMORE (AP) - A man was arrested after an early morning standoff with officers responding to a report that he struck his wife and fired a weapon, Grand Forks County officials said.

Branden Kuck, 24, was taken into custody about 3 a.m. Assistant State's Attorney David Jones said he was expected to appear in court Friday to face at least three felony charges.

"There will be at least counts of terrorizing, reckless endangerment and assault on law enforcement," Jones said.

The sheriff's office said deputies were called to a recreational vehicle in Larimore shortly before 2 a.m., after a report that Kuck struck his wife and fired a weapon. The woman fled the RV but two young sons remained inside, officials said.

Authorities surrounded the vehicle and advised nearby residents to leave the area. The sheriff's office said Kuck came out with a handgun and followed orders to drop the weapon, then ran to his pickup.

A deputy chased him and tried to get into the vehicle but Kuck backed it into a street pole, officials said. Deputies said they used a Taser to subdue Kuck.

Authorities said neither child was hurt. They reported that a loaded .45 caliber semiautomatic pistol was recovered at the scene.
