Streets were clogged and vehicles got stuck after a spring storm dumped heavy, wet snow in parts of North Dakota.
Snowfall amounts included 9 inches in Havana, southwest of Wahpeton near the South Dakota border, 8 inches in Halliday, 6 inches in Medora, 5.6 inches in Fargo and 4 inches each in Bismarck and Dickinson, the National Weather Service said.
Fargo officials issued a no travel advisory early Tuesday afternoon for city streets, citing a number of stuck vehicles and a lack of visibility. Conditions had improved by late afternoon as the storm moved east.
In West Fargo, an accident backed up traffic on one of the main roads for half an hour, though no injuries were reported from it.
"People weren't slowing down, and they'd slide off into the ditch or hit other vehicles," said. Chris Schultz a police dispatcher.
Schools in the Wahpeton area called off classes early Tuesday, and county sheriffs in Richland and neighboring Wilkin (Minn.) counties issued no travel advisories.
Authorities said two people were injured in a crash caused by a whiteout on Interstate 29 north of Colfax during the morning. Their conditions were not known.
In Havana, where the 9-inch snowfall was reported, officials said the roads had been plowed and traffic was moving early Tuesday night.
