MINOT (AP) - North Dakota's oil production is climbing so fast that it's expected to be the sixth top-producing state in the country by end of the year.
North Dakota Petroleum Council President Ron Ness says oil output is growing at a clip of 6,000 barrels a day per month.
Ness says the all-time record of 148,000 barrels, set in 1984, was broken in April.
Although oil data is about two months behind, Ness says data from July and August showed 172,000 barrels a day.
He says North Dakota may have more than 100 oil rigs by the end of the year.
