WILLISTON (AP) - A rural Williston church that was destroyed by fire in February 2007 has risen from the ashes.

Parishioners plan to dedicate the new West Prairie Church 22 miles northwest of Williston today. The new building is atop the original foundation, built in 1980 when several churches merged.

The cause of the fire 17 months ago is not known, though electrical problems are suspected. Only a sign with the church's namesake, a bell tower and a cross were salvaged.

The congregation met in a school while the new church was being built. Church Council President Bob Horab says officials used insurance money, donations and a lot of volunteer labor to complete the project.
