WHITE SHIELD (AP) - The FBI says it is investigating the suspicious death of a 16-year-old boy in White Shield, on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation.
FBI Agent E.K. Wilson said tribal police notified the FBI of the death Thursday morning.
"Our agents responded to a call from the tribal police, who had been contacted about a body discovered outside of a residence in White Shield," Wilson said Friday. "The victim was a 16-year-old Native American male. The death was under suspicious conditions, so we are investigating along with the tribal police there."
Wilson said the boy lived in White Shield but he had no other details of the case. He said authorities are awaiting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
No suspects are in custody in the federal system, Wilson said. A woman who answered the phone at the tribal police headquarters in New Town said police there could release no information.
