MEDORA (AP)- Work is halfway done for the relocation of the Badlands Bible Ministry camp about five miles south of here.
The work comes after a deal was made for the camp to move to make more room for the Bully Pulpit Golf Course.
"The catalyst was that the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation wanted to buy the land for possible future development and the golf course," said camp co-director Brent Seaks. "We had been talking about doing year-round ministry and this got us rolling."
The current site being used this summer is only 39 acres, while the relocation area purchased by the camp is about 188 acres.
The $3.2 million camp relocation and construction is slated for completion next summer, Seaks said. About half of the money has been raised so far. The 33 churches that own the camp are fundraising for the construction, he said.
