FARGO (AP) - Officials say the cost of guarding a man while he was in a Fargo hospital after a gunfight with police is about $18,000.
Deputies guarded Vincent Degidio Jr. of Moorhead, Minn., round the clock, until he was transferred to a medical prison in South Carolina.
Cass County Chief Deputy Jim Thoreson says the U.S. Marshal's Service will reimburse Cass County and neighboring Clay County, Minn., for 760 hours of service.
Thoreson also says Degidio had a pair of scissors inside a pillow case during his hospital stay. He says investigators believe a hospital staff member left the scissors in Degidio's room by accident.
Degidio is facing state and federal charges in a kidnapping and shootout with police in April.
