Medora - The Chateau de Mores State Historic Site will celebrate the 153rd birthday of Medora on Friday. The event will include birthday cake, coffee and lemonade served in the interpretive center, and Karen Nelson, who portrays Medora, will be hostess from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 5 p.m.

Killdeer - The Dunn County weed control cost-share program will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 1 at the North Dakota State University Extension building in Killdeer. Strasburg - A public information meeting will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Blue Room in Strasburg to talk about improvements on Highway 83 at the junctions of Rodeo Road and 89th Street. The North Dakota Department of Transportation will make a presentation on the project and answer questions.

HETTINGER

Mott - Mott's annual Tractor Fest will be held Saturday, a one-day event that celebrates the town's agricultural heritage. It's also John Deere Day, and participants will create a human tractor. Kellan Lutz, Dickinson native and star of movies "Twilight" and "New Moon," will make a special appearance. Also, the Hettinger County Sheriff's Department will hold a concealed weapons class when 20 people have registered. The class is required for a Class 1 license. Call the sheriff for information.

Steele - A lighting ceremony for the new lights installed at the Kidder County football field in Steele will be held starting at 7 p.m. Friday with hot dogs and hamburgers, followed by the lighting ceremony and presentation at 8:30 p.m., and football practice at 9 p.m. A freewill offering will be taken for the supper.

Napoleon - The fifth annual Pheasants Forever youth shoot will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Napoleon Wildlife Club's trap shoot grounds. The event is open to youth ages 6 through 16, who will receive a free lunch. Guns, shells and targets will be provided by the club. Participants must be accompanied by an adult.

Center - The Center Housing Authority will hold a Hazel Miner subdivision picnic from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the new housing project in Center. The housing authority will give tours, and there will be free hot dogs and Polish served to the first 200 who attend. The contractor will be on hand to answer questions.

Amidon - The North Dakota Rodeo Association and Slope Summer Circuit Rodeo will be held Aug. 30 at the Slope County Fairgrounds in Amidon. Events start at 1:30 p.m. and include a $3,650 added purse.
