North Dakota is 119 years old.
President Benjamin Harrison signed the proclamation that made North Dakota a state on Nov. 2, 1889. North Dakota became the 39th state.
"This anniversary is a great occasion to celebrate our rich history and honor the generations of North Dakotans that built this great state and paved the way for the growth and opportunity we enjoy today," Gov. John Hoeven said in a statement.
