GRAND FORKS (AP) - A man is set to go on trial in the beating death of another man in the parking lot of a Grand Forks bar.
Travis Stay's attorney wants to move the trial. Judge Joel Medd says he'll wait to rule on the request until after jury selection starts. Prosecutors oppose the move.
Stay is accused of beating 38-year-old Joel Lovelien to death in the parking lot of the Broken Drum bar in October 2007. Authorities say Lovelien had been talking on his cell phone in the bar's parking lot when a fight broke out, and that he was trying to help Stay after Stay was hurt.
Stay is a former nursing student from Princeton, Minn.
