VALLEY CITY (AP) - Former Barnes County jailer Moe Gibbs, convicted last month of killing Valley City State University student Mindy Morgenstern, is expected to plead guilty to charges involving sexual assaults on inmates.

A hearing is scheduled this afternoon in Valley City for the change of plea, which comes less than a month after Gibbs pleaded guilty to a 2004 rape in Fargo.

Gibbs, 35, was charged with sexually assaulting five inmates while working at the Barnes County jail in 2006.

A jury in Bismarck convicted Gibbs on Nov. 16 of killing Morgenstern. He is scheduled for sentencing in that case Monday.

Authorities said Gibbs' DNA matched evidence collected from a 2004 rape of a Fargo woman. Gibbs pleaded guilty in that case two weeks after being convicted of the Morgenstern murder.

The plea agreement in the Fargo rape case calls for a 12-year prison sentence to run at the same time as any time Gibbs serves for murder. Sentencing in that case is set for next Thursday.
