The state Health Department is reporting 14 human cases of the West Nile virus so far this year in North Dakota.
Health officials say there were 54 cases at this time last year.
Michelle Feist, the department's West Nile virus expert, says there has been a decrease in number of culex tarsalis, the mosquito that carries virus.
Health officials say there were 369 confirmed human cases of West Nile virus in North Dakota last year, and three deaths.
