PEMBINA (AP) - Northeastern North Dakota residents were shoveling out Thursday from a foot of snow while western North Dakota recovered from freezing rain.
Blayne Saiger, a cashier at a truck stop off Interstate 29 in Pembina, said trucks were getting stuck in the snow coming off exit ramps early Thursday.
"We usually get 18 to 20 (semis) on a good night, parked out here sleeping. But our lot is packed - more than 50 in the lot here," he said early in the morning. "They haven't really said anything expect for the guys getting stuck - they've been complaining."
The weather service said snowfall amounts included a foot in Pembina, 7 inches each in Devils Lake and Edmore, 6 inches each in Cavalier and Langdon and Starkweather, 5.5 inches in Leeds, 5 inches in Valley City, 3 inches in Grand Forks, 1.6 inches in Fargo and about half an inch in Wahpeton.
