FARGO (AP) - Fargo city commissioners are looking at two options to protect the city's south side from flooding.
The commissioners have voted 5-0 to do an environmental analysis of both plans.
The $100 million Wild Rice River levee alternative is favored by the city staff. It calls for a system of levees, drain improvements, channel extensions on the Red River and land purchases to hold back water.
The other option is the $150 million Wild Rice River bypass. The bypass on the Wild Rice would act a diversion channel, taking the water to where the Red River and Wild Rice meet.
Commissioners will choose a plan to present to the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
