MINOT (AP) - City Council members have voted unanimously for an incentive package of more than $250,000 to try to lure Frontier Airlines.

Minot plans to submit the package to Denver-based Frontier this week. It includes spending $50,000 from the city's general fund on airport marketing and more than $120,000 on remodeling the terminal for a second airline.

Minot currently is served by Northwest Airlines, which flies to Minneapolis. Frontier would provide a Denver connection.

Frontier included Minot among 50 cities contacted last fall about making a proposal for air service. The airline set a Jan. 15 deadline for proposals, with plans to make a decision by the end of June.

Minot's proposal is based on one daily flight with a Q400 turboprop aircraft.

Grand Forks is preparing a proposal for jet service.

About 200 local businesses would support bringing Frontier Airlines to Grand Forks, said Steve Johnson, the city's airport authority executive director. He also said the airport authority has gathered nearly $15,000 in pledges for a marketing campaign to help keep Frontier in the area on a long-term basis.

The Grand Forks proposal is built around $350,000 in federal grant money that was awarded to the airport.
