MINOT (AP) - A state revenue report indicates that tax collections in North Dakota are holding steady in spite of a weakening national economy.

The director of the Office of Management and Budget, Pam Sharp, says the decline in sales tax collections that some other states are experiencing is not the case in North Dakota.

General fund revenue is 22 percent ahead of the previous biennium at this time. Receipts from the sales tax, corporate income tax and individual income tax are all higher than the last biennium and ahead of the August forecast.

Sharp says the state could be affected if consumer confidence falls or if people worry because their retirement accounts are worth less.
