RUGBY (AP) - An interim police chief has been appointed at Rugby after Police Chief Robert Walls was asked to resign.

City officials said they can't talk about the dismissal, but a press release cites mishandling of cases and violations of policies.

Walls was asked to resign on Tuesday after an emergency session by the city council and Public Safety Committee.

The mayor appointed Pierce County Sheriff Robert Graber as interim chief of police.
