FARGO (AP) - Public health agencies in North Dakota are joining in a campaign focusing on the dangers of secondhand smoke.

Vicki Voldal Rosenau, the tobacco prevention coordinator in Valley City, said the group called BreatheND will use the Internet, through its Web site, www.breatheND.com, and a media blitz to spread its message.

"Many groups have educated separately for years, and now we want to take that effort to the next level. With BreatheND, we'll all have one voice and one message," she said in a statement.

Organizers say the March of Dimes and the American Cancer Society have joined the coalition and similar organizations are expected to sign on.

Money for BreatheND comes from the state's share of a multistate tobacco settlement. About $100,000 has been committed.
