GRAND FORKS (AP) - A woman here who allegedly exposed her two young children to the decomposing body of their 2-year-old sister has been arrested in Minnesota.
Jody Weaver, 38, the mother of Destiny Weaver, was charged last week in Northeast Central District Court with two felony counts of abuse or neglect of a child, misdemeanor willful disturbance of a dead body and misdemeanor failure to report a death.
Weaver was arrested near Grygla, Minn. on Wednesday, and was being taken to Grand Forks on Thursday, authorities said.
Authorities said Destiny Weaver had been dead for about two weeks when Jody Weaver and her boyfriend, Clarence Smith, put the toddler's body into a plastic container on Feb. 12, loaded it into the trunk of a vehicle and took it to Pennington County, Minn. Police said Smith called them during the trip and reported the body.
Prosecutors say Weaver exposed her 2-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter to Destiny Weaver's decomposing body for at least two weeks.
Smith is charged with misdemeanor willful disturbance of a dead body and misdemeanor failure to report a death.
An autopsy was done on the child, but authorities have not released the cause of death.
