LIDGERWOOD (AP) - A man accused of firing a gun at neighbor who drove into his farm is facing an attempted murder charge, Richland County authorities say.
Jeffrey Kubella was arrested at about 4 p.m. Thursday, after he left his Lidgerwood-area farm in a pickup, said Sgt. Pat Lettow of the Richland County sheriff's department. Deputies arrested Kubella after a two-mile chase, Lettow said.
Kubella was subdued with a Taser, authorities said.
Chief Deputy Gary Ruhl said the incident started at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, when Kubella fired at a neighbor who drove to the farmstead. Authorities said the driver suffered minor injuries from broken glass after his windshield was hit.
Richland County Sheriff Larry Leshovsky said the driver of the vehicle told authorities he had not seen Kubella for a while and pulled into his driveway to check on him.
Leshovksy said Kubella then shot at the vehicle with a rifle. The driver, who was Kubella's friend, did not know why Kubella shot at him, authorities said.
Ruhl said the area had been cordoned off for several miles for safety. Deputes had asked for help from SWAT teams from Fargo and Fergus Falls, Minn., who were on standby.
Authorities said Kubella is being held at the jail in Wahpeton.
