GRAND FORKS (AP) - The University of North Dakota is reporting a boost in its spring enrollment count, with a third-week total of 11,831 students.
The figure is 127 more than North Dakota State's 11,714 student count. UND trailed NDSU on the first day of classes, 11,141 to 11,275.
The enrollment numbers collected Wednesday are not yet the official numbers recorded by the State Board of Higher Education. Those official numbers will be collected in the fourth week rather than the third week of the semester, under a change in state board policy.
UND's enrollment has steadily declined over the past few years. But school officials hope a new scholarship will help.
