JAMESTOWN (AP) - Jamestown College is now a tobacco-free campus, school officials announced.
Smoking and the use of chewing tobacco are prohibited on all college property, said Carol Schmeichel, vice president of student affairs.
"We've been talking about this for two years with our faculty and staff," Schmeichel said.
"A year ago, we moved the smoking stations 20 feet away from buildings; now, we're going tobacco-free altogether."
The policy covers college employees, students, visitors, contractors and companies renting space at the school, officials said.
The school's wellness program will provide information regarding tobacco cessation programs to employees and students.
