NDSU urges smoking ban
FARGO (AP) - A North Dakota State University committee is recommending a smoking ban on outdoor areas of campus and on the seven research extension centers across the state .
The six-member committee includes six staff members and one student, smokers and nonsmokers. Faculty members, staff and student government groups will consider the recommendation before it goes to NDSU President Joseph Chapman for approval.
Committee member Luther Fragodt, the production manager for the Festival Concert Hall, said he smokes 10 cigarettes a day, and the health effects of smoking and secondhand smoke influenced his decision to support a ban.
"In all good conscience, I could come to no other conclusion," Fragodt said.
